Starting something new can feel exciting, empowering and, for many people, a little intimidating. At Reignite Movement, we understand that walking into your first class often comes with questions, uncertainties and perhaps even a few nerves. Our goal is to make your experience as welcoming and comfortable as possible from the moment you book your first session.
What to bring
Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely is all you really need for your session. Think of outfits that support ease of movement without restricting you. Many members choose leggings, joggers, shorts, T-shirts or fitted activewear, but the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident. We provide high-quality mats and any equipment required for the class, so there is no pressure to invest in specialist items before you begin. However, if you have a favourite mat that helps you feel more at ease, you are very welcome to bring it with you. A bottle of water is always recommended to help you stay hydrated throughout your session. You may also wish to bring a small towel and an extra layer of clothing for before or after class, particularly during the colder months. Most importantly, bring yourself exactly as you are. There is no expectation to look, move or perform a certain way. Every member starts somewhere, and your journey is uniquely yours.
Arriving for your first class
We encourage all new members to arrive around five to ten minutes before the scheduled start time of their first session. Arriving a little earlier allows us the opportunity to welcome you properly, introduce ourselves and help you settle into the space before class begins. This extra time also gives you the chance to ask any questions you may have, discuss any injuries, health considerations or concerns, and familiarise yourself with the studio environment. We understand that stepping into a new setting can feel daunting, and our instructors are committed to ensuring you feel supported from the outset. There is no need to worry about not knowing where to stand, what equipment to use or what to expect. We will guide you through the process and help you feel comfortable before the session starts. Our aim is for you to leave your first class feeling proud that you took that first step.
What to expect in class
Every class at Reignite Movement is designed to be inclusive, supportive and adaptable. You do not need previous experience in Pilates or structured movement to participate. Our instructors provide clear guidance throughout each session and offer modifications to accommodate different levels of experience, mobility and confidence. There is never any pressure to keep up with others in the room. We actively encourage you to move at a pace that feels right for your body on that particular day. Some days you may feel energised and capable of taking on greater challenges, while other days you may need to slow down and focus on gentle movement and connection. Both approaches are equally valid. Our classes focus not only on physical strength but also on improving mobility, body awareness, balance and confidence. You may notice opportunities to connect your breath with movement, strengthen muscles you did not realise you had neglected, and discover a renewed appreciation for what your body is capable of achieving. Most importantly, classes are judgement-free spaces. There is no expectation of perfection. Progress is personal, and every member is encouraged to celebrate the small victories that gradually lead to meaningful change over time.
After your class
When class comes to an end, there is no rush to leave. We encourage members to take a few moments to transition back into the rest of their day, allowing themselves time to reflect on how they feel following the session. Many of the relationships formed within our community begin through the simple conversations that happen after class. Whether you choose to chat with fellow members, share experiences, ask questions or simply enjoy a moment of quiet, we believe that connection is an important part of the Reignite Movement experience. If anything during the session felt challenging or if you would like advice on how to support your progress between classes, our instructors are always happy to help. We want you to leave feeling informed, encouraged and confident about your next steps. Above all, remember that attending your first class is an achievement in itself. Starting something new requires courage. By choosing to prioritise your wellbeing, you have already taken the first step towards reconnecting with yourself, rebuilding your confidence and reigniting your strength. We look forward to welcoming you into the Reignite Movement community.
